HOW IT WORKS
When closing the lock, the lock bar catches in the slot of the short end of the neck, locking the neck in place. Without the key to the lock, the three dowels are connected by the three rings of the pin, preventing the lock's body from being rotated. When you place the key, the teeth of the key push the dowels outwards, so that their edges line up with the outer edges of the lock body. This releases the lock body so you can turn it with the key. The rotation of the lock pulls back the lock bar, releasing the neck in the shape of U, which is then pushed upward from its springs.
